2009 Rounds 1 & 2 Snetterton
What a start to the season, the MWR-AHM team arrived bright and early Saturday morning and started preparing the cars for scruitineering and qualifying. Mike, Alan, Steve and Rory all got through OK.
Once the cars were back at the camp the final bits of prep were done to get them ready for qualifying.
In session 1 Steve, Rory and Alan were out, whilst Mike waited in the assembly area for session 2. All put in good times and were placed 22nd 35th & 38th in the heat.
Mike was out next in session 2, he also managed a good time considering it was his first time out in the car! That placed him 21st in the heat.
With qualifying over the cars were fuelled up and prepped for the race.
All the drivers were in the heat and all lined up in the assembly area. On the first lap there as a crash that caused the race to be red flagged and halted, all the cars came back to the grid to line up for a re-start. Another two laps were completed and again another red flag came out. That was the end of the heat!
Mike managed to get into the final later in the day, whilst the others just missed out. Mikes car was topped up with fuel and prepped to go again.
Once again Mike went onto the grid, from the heat he was placed 35th on the grid for the final and eventually finished 29th overall.
A nice relaxed start to Sunday, everyone arrived at about 9:30am and got the cars ready for the heat, they were placed 20th (Mike) 21st (Steve) 33rd (Rory) & 38th (Alan) from the results of the previous days qualifying. With the cars ready everyone could relax until 10:30 until the heat began.
From the grid the lights went out and off they raced, and all made up several places during the race, sadly we did not scrape into the final, they were all put into the reserves with Mike as 1st reserve. The final was full and no-one missing so we did not get a look in.
